The Polar Express™ runs on select dates from November 25 to December 23, 2022.

The Polar Express™ Train Ride will be the largest annual event for 2022 at the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. & Museum. This theatrically-driven holiday train has become an annual tradition for thousands of families, drawing over 20,000 passengers in 2021! Maine Narrow Gauge considers this year extraordinary and wants to ensure that this Maine holiday tradition continues.

This year’s fun begins at Portland’s Ocean Gateway Marine Terminal. The Conductor boards passengers onto the nine historic passenger coaches decked out for the holidays. Once on board, magical chefs serve hot chocolate and cookies. Christmas music fills the cars as the steam locomotive blows its whistle, the wheels start turning, and your roundtrip ride begins to the North Pole.

The Polar Express™ Train Ride is staffed by volunteers and is the largest annual fundraiser for the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. & Museum. Thank you for your support! Your ticket purchase contributes to the continuity of our entirely unique historic railroad.

Presidential Class details: Passengers riding “Presidential Class” receive our brand-new, most deluxe level of service! These passengers enjoy premium individual cushioned seating, get a commemorative limited-edition ceramic mug to remember their train ride, and can take home a copy of the Polar Express book signed by Santa Claus, on loan from the North Pole Library. (1 copy per grouping of 4 [or fewer] guests).

First Class passengers get to ride in one of Maine Narrow Gauge’s restored turn-of-the-century train cars (with individual padded seating), as well as receive a limited-edition ceramic mug as a unique souvenir of their train ride to the North Pole.

All passengers get the experience of riding on a brilliantly decorated train powered by an authentic steam engine, as well as receive hot chocolate, a cookie, a brief visit from Santa, and for kids, the first gift of Christmas – a silver sleigh bell.

It’s back! We are thrilled to announce that Bring Your Child to a Bookstore Day is back this year at Longfellow Books. Join us on Saturday December 3rd for the most exciting day of the year…every child that comes into the store can pick out any book they want, up to $10 in value, absolutely free! And joining us this year from 9am-12pm will be two of our perennial favorites — Chris Van Dusen and Ryan T. Higgins — joined by celebrated author and illustrator, Tom Booth. They’ll be signing books and meeting the families all morning.

In years past we’ve given away nearly 500 books to local children…We’d like to see if we can double that number this year…so tell all your friends!

Note: for the health of everyone, we will not be starting the day with a performance by Portland Stage as we have in years past. We hope you understand.

For children of all ages! Get in the holiday spirit with Photos with Santa, Gingerbread Houses & Hot Chocolate! Pictures with Santa, whether with individuals or groups, will help you keep memories alive. Decorating your own Gingerbread House will showcase your artistic skills and can become a centerpiece for your table for the holidays. Finally, at the Hot Chocolate Bar, you can add several delicious toppings such as peppermint sticks and whipped cream to your hot chocolate. $10 for each photo & $10 for each gingerbread house. Hot chocolate bar is free with either a photo or gingerbread house, $5 without. Profits from this event benefit Woodfords Club’s restoration and preservation efforts. 207-772-4893.

After a two-year absence due to Covid, the Sea Dogs will host Holiday at Hadlock on Saturday, December 3rd from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The Sea Dogs will turn the place of summer memories into a winter wonderland. The free event, open to the public, will be highlighted by Santa’s arrival from the North Pole via helicopter (ELF One).
Santa Claus is scheduled to land at 11:00 AM at Hadlock Field from the North Pole. Santa will then be available to meet with the children.

• Make Your Own S’Mores Station
• Toys-for-Tots Drop-Off Location- Fans are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy to donate.

Additionally, fans will be able to get a head start on their holiday shopping as both the Sea Dogs’ Ticket Office and Souvenir Shop will be open to allow fans to give the gift of summer this winter.
The Sea Dogs open their 30th season on Thursday, April 6th at 6:00 PM against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Mets). Tickets are now on sale for all 2023 home games and can be purchased online at seadogs.com or by calling the Sea Dogs ticket office at 207-879-9500.
