There’s something special about Sur Lie.

Sur Lie is a tapas style restaurant in downtown Portland, Maine serving American contemporary cuisine of an eclectic mix of influences from all over the world. Sur Lie uses tapas as a way to bring people together and create a unique dining experience. The food focus is on the amazing and beautiful bounty of locally sourced ingredients that Maine has to offer.

To us it’s about buying local. It’s about giving back to our community. Food and drink are a craft, something we take pride in. It’s more than sitting down to eat dinner. You get more than food and a couple drinks – you get an experience. To us, it is about giving each guest an amazing experience.

Happy Hour all day Wednesday, and 5-6pm Thursday-Saturday. Only available in the Bar/Lounge.

Came back one more time! This time restaurant week was going on so we started with the kale salad and Maine crab, moved on to mushroom risotto and short rib, then the granita and parsnip cake for dessert. We were too full to add the optional lobster popover (which is my favorite dish on their regular menu and must have). It’s always a great experience at Sur Lie.

Our bachelorette party had a wonderful experience at Sur Lie! The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to the dietary needs/allergies of our party. The bartender, Travis, went above and beyond making us speciality shots. The drinks were beautiful!

Incredible experience, extremely well versed staff. Food was incredible and well priced for a tapas style restaurant. Had several cocktails throughout the table and they were all incredible.3 dishes per person for 3 people and several cocktails under $300 and walking away very full.Kitchen is open to dining area and it was amazing to watch them work, ran into one of the chefs (George) outside as we were leaving and he was very pleasant and excited to hear how much we enjoyed it. Definitely a gem in the city and highly recommend!

We had a awesome experience here for my wife’s birthday! Very nice atmosphere, great for a date night or out with friends. Excellent service- servers/staff were all incredibly friendly and chill. Happy hour even on the weekends! The cocktails were all very good. The food was on point- the popover and beef dishes were two favorites. Only two knocks were maybe that the next dish almost seemed to come out a little too fast (not necessarily a bad thing, but too fast for us), and a couple of the dishes had a little too much bitterness going on for our taste (the gnocchi and the compote with the cheesecake). But Sur Lie should be at the top of your list for places to try in Portland, especially if you like the tapas format!

This was one of the best dining experiences I've had in years. The tapas menu is incredible and everything is so well balanced and tasty. Mike was bartending that night and his cocktails were so good. Lots of savory components to the drinks that paired so well with the food. As a celiac, I was so happy to have a gluten free safe meal that was so good. I will happily be back.

Sur Lie’s Owner, Krista Cole, and Executive Chef, Mimi Weissenborn will showcase female winemaker Sonja Magdevski of Clementine Carter’s eclectic collection of Rhone varietal wines grown in the Santa Barbara region of California. … brought into the state of Maine by female-owned Crush Distributors.  If you’ve never attended a wine dinner at Sur Lie, you’re in for a treat!  Sur Lie’s family style dining creates a fun and unique dining experience.  You’ll taste your way through four courses each paired with it’s own unique wine.  The food will be perfectly paired by executive chef Mimi Weissenborn, a Michelin Star recommended chef who boasts most of her experience in NYC.

“I fell in love with the Clementine Carter wines the first time I tasted them with Laura.  Not only were they incredible wines, but the winemaker Sonja and I shared a similar story.  We’ve both endured so much to get to where we are today, and we are both proud to be 100% female owners of the businesses we stand behind.  Her wines are incredible!  She’s talented and has grit.  What started as a small patch of dirt turned into something much more meaningful.  As Sonja says, “My original pursuit was to better understand the paths toward peace, II do that now through wine.”  I’m on a similar journey as the sole owner of Sur Lie and now my second restaurant, Gather, in Yarmouth.” – Krista Cole

Optional cocktail hour starts at 5pm. The dinner, consisting of four courses paired with four wines, will begin at 6pm.
