The Weekend Guide for February 14th-16th

It’s Valentine’s Weekend and Portland, Maine is the place to be! Attend a dance party, the National Wear Red Day Conference, a talk on flowers and gardens at the Portland Museum of Art, or one of the beer and ice cream parties at Portland’s breweries!

The National Wear Red Day Press Conference is scheduled for 11 am at Portland City Hall. The conference is in honor of American Heart Month and aims to bring attention to cardiovascular disease. This event is hosted by Mayor Kate Snyder and the American Heart Association. The Portland Fire Department will provide hands-only CPR demonstrations.

There’s a free Spirits Tasting featuring St. Elder Liqueurs at Bow Street Beverage from 3-5 pm. Give these small-batch liqueurs a try!

Check out this Cat Stevens Tribute at One Longfellow Square by acoustic duo Tom DiMenna and Dave Taylor. Tickets are $15. The doors open at 7 pm and the show starts at 8 pm! This is an all-ages event! 

TAUK will be at Port City Music Hall at 8:30 pm to deliver amazing all-instrument rock, hip-hop, and jazz songs. Tickets are $18. This is an 18+ event. 

FLASK LOUNGE is hosting Future Classic from 9 pm-1 am. There’s no cover to get in! 

Sweep the Leg will be performing at Rí Rá from 10 pm-1 am. Great drinks and live music, who could ask for more?


Celebrate Bunker Brewing Company’s 8th birthday at 8 Years of Bunker from 11 am-10 pm! They will be releasing a new beer and the event will feature a special tap list and bottle pours. Food will be available and DJs will be playing. Join the party!

Art in Bloom Keynote: Wildfolk Studio’s Caroline O’Donnell will speak on her floral compositions at 11 am at the Portland Museum of Art! Tickets are $15 for general admission and $12 for PMA members. 

Listen to this Artist Talk with Moon Nguany Machar called Lioness Learns to Speak from 2-5 pm at Indigo Arts Alliance. This event focuses on the importance of storytelling and it’s interactions with platforms of mass consumption.

Gelato Fiasco joins Rising Tide Brewery Company for a Valentine’s Weekend Beer Float Party! The event runs from 4-7 pm. Pair delicious gelato with an amazing beer and enjoy! 

Groove at Heartstrings- a Queer Dance Party at Good Medicine Collective. This is a sober dance party that celebrates chosen family and all kinds of love. Snacks and mocktails will be available. There is a suggested donation of $0-$15 and no one will be turned away. All money raised will go to Queer + Trans Community Dance. Allies are welcome! See their Facebook page for more details!

Check out Emo Night Portland-Taste the Chaos from 8 pm-1 am at the Portland House of Music and Events. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 day of the show! Doors open at 8 pm and the music starts at 9 pm. This is a 21+ event. 

Kat Walker’s Valentine’s Birthday Show at Empire Comedy Club is from 9-11:30 pm! This event is themed f*** Valentine’s Day so get ready for sassy songs and sarcastic stand-up! Tickets are $12 and this is a 21+ event.


Attend this Galentine’s Drag Queen Brunch at Tipo from 11 am-2 pm. There’s a $5 entrance fee, a portion of which will go to Equality Maine. Call for your reservation today!

Head to the Portland Museum of Art for the Art in Bloom Lecture: Planning Your Organic Spring Flower Garden! The lecture is from 2-3:30 pm and tickets are $12 general admission and $8 for MOFGA and PMA members. 

BYOB (Bring Your Own Baby) is back! Little Tap House is hosting a happy hour from 3:30-5:30 pm for parents and their babies! House wines, select draughts, and mimosas are only $5. Plus, there’s a family photo booth!

Bring your kids to Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are in a Play” from 4-5 pm at the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine. Don’t miss this epic musical experience! Tickets are $12 for the show and $18 for the show and entry to the museum!
