Anything from recent closings, openings, and headliners:
- Voting for Portland Old Port’s Best of 2024 Awards is live! Show your support for your favorites by voting throughout the month of July. This year, you’ll only be able to cast ONE vote per category. Come Monday, July 15th, nominees will be narrowed down to only the top 10 in each category! Voting ends Wednesday, July 31st at 11:59pm. VOTE NOW.
- As reported back in May, Lil Chippy would be opening at 52 Washington Avenue this summer. Opening day has come! Lil Chippy opened this past Friday, June 28th.
A counter-service seafood restaurant, Lil Chippy’s bread and butter is their fish and chips. In addition, the menu features a round-up of “buddy” sandwiches – Chicken Buddy, Lobster Buddy, Pea Falafel Buddy – cold snacks including a Bluefin Tuna Crudo, Tomato Salad and a Greens and Herbs. For the kiddos, a petite fish and chips and a chicken chips are available. Desserts consist of the Canelé with berries and creme anglaise.
Brought to Portland by husband and wife duo Ashley Wolf and William Durst, Lil Chippy is open Wednesday – Sunday from 12pm – 8pm.
- Thames Landing is set to open in the former Helm Oyster Bar & Bistro space at 60 Thames Street on Wednesday, July 3rd. A new restaurant offering “modern New England far”, Thames Landing will open for dinner, lunch, and brunch. Thames Landing is brought to Portland by Mark and Renae Roy, owners of Navis Cafe, which is located just down the road at 56 Thames Street.
- Inkwell Lounge inside The Press Hotel has reopened after light renovations and a food + drink menu revamp. Small bites on the new menu include: Local Oysters; Hushpuppies with Jonah crab cake butter and pea shoots; Tuna Tartare with chili crisp, sesame, and nori wonton, and more. Off the Record Happy Hour still remains daily from 4pm – 6pm and includes deals on drinks and bites.
- Luna Rooftop Bar celebrated its 3rd anniversary on Sunday, June 30th.
- Crown Jewel on Great Diamond Island is celebrating its 7th anniversary this week.
- As mentioned last week, Blue Lobster Urban Winery has relocated to 200 Anderson Street in Portland. This new location offers a larger space for events, bar seating and tables, outdoor dining, as well as an extended menu with wine, n/a wine, cocktails, mocktails and beer. Check out our recent visit to BLUW’s new tasting room.
- As reported back in February, the Highroller Lobster Co. team was to be opening a new restaurant, Low Stakes Lodge, within Timber’s former location in the Old Port. An elevated steakhouse experience with a relaxed dive bar ambiance and an enticing drink selection, Low Stakes Lodge has officially opened. They will be taking July 4th week off and having a grand opening party on Thursday, July 11th.

- Clam Bar runs happy hour every Monday – Friday from 3pm – 6pm. Includes $6 Painkillers, $6 craft beer, $6 bites (Slaw Day, HH Slider, HH Taco). Check it out.
- Maine Craft Distilling host Buck-a-Shuck Wednesdays every week. Enjoy $1 oysters starting at 5:30pm, plus happy hour from 4pm – 6pm with deals on drink and snacks. Check it out.
- East Bayside Block Party is set for Wednesday, July 14th. Bites, brews, music, and more.

- Maine Craft Distilling will be hosting their annual SeaGrass Music Festival on Sunday, September 15th. Join for cold drinks, good food, live music and family fun.
