Forever Thing | New System Exhibitions | 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Nevan Swanson’s (Portland, Maine) photographs are from a project he’s been working on over the last two years in the American South. Through his work, he considers what documents hold in themselves and confronts notions of memory and loss, keeping and sharing. Nevan works on long term projects often over the course of several years. His practice has developed as an exercise in paying attention, in spending time with people and their environments in an effort to find connection and reciprocity. This is his first solo exhibition.

Comedytown is an all-star variety show featuring some the nations best standup, sketch, and improv all in one show! Based out of New York City and Los Angeles, Comedytown will becoming to Portland for one night only. In one of the world’s most populated cities, two brothers—Nadeem and Saud—devote their lives to the quixotic effort of protecting the black kite, a majestic bird of prey essential to the ecosystem of New Delhi that has been falling from the sky at alarming rates. Amid environmental toxicity and social unrest, the ‘kite brothers’ spend day and night caring for the creatures in their makeshift avian basement hospital. Director Shaunak Sen (Cities of Sleep) explores the connection between the kites and the Muslim brothers who help them return to the skies, offering a mesmerizing chronicle of inter-species coexistence.
The Maine Irish Heritage Center is hosting the 3rd Annual “Best of All Things Irish in Maine”, their major fundraiser for 2022 where all proceeds will support operating expenses and building restoration in support of their mission to keep the Irish arts and rich culture flourishing in Maine. In addition to celebrating 2022’s winning bands, singers, and performers, they are adding a new competition – “The Best Irish Beers of Maine.” Winners and runners-up in each category will be announced at the end of the evening. Some of Portland’s finest food trucks will be on-site to feed your appetite including Lucky Lou’s and Mainely Meatballs.Tickets here.

Earth Needs A Moon by LOVE BY NUMB3RS is filled with soulful, haunting and evocative songs about love, devotion and more with finely etched, atmospheric settings, over which vocalists Anna Lombard and Dan Connor cast their spells.
