Where to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Portland, Maine!

St. Patrick’s day is just around the corner and Portland, Maine is the place to spend it! We’ve compiled a list of all the amazing St. Patrick’s events from Friday, March 13th to St. Patrick’s Day 2020! You could check out the Irish flag raising, watch the St. Patrick’s parade, compete in themed bar trivia, or visit one of Portland’s Irish pubs! 

Unfortunately, some events have been canceled or postponed. We have noted those that will no longer be occurring on schedule and will continue to update as we learn more!

Friday

Rí Rá is hosting a slew of events starting on Friday, March 13th and running all the way through to St. Patrick’s Day! Stop by for a rugby game or two, live music, or Irish dance performance! Sign up for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Plunge at East End Beach and help raise money for the Portland Firefighters Children’s Burn Foundation. Afterward, Rí Rá will host a delicious Irish breakfast Plunge participants! Learn more and see the full schedule on their Facebook page! 

Saturday

Boghat will be at Bunker Brewing Co. to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Listen to traditional Irish dance music and enjoy fantastic food from Sampa Kitchen – Grillin’ Brazillian.

Drink up at this Irish Coffee Tasting with Bushmills and Proper 12 Irish Whiskeys at Bow Street Beverage from 3-5 pm. This is a free 21+ event!

The Great Portland St. Patrick’s Day Party will be from 3-11 pm at The Portland Club. Listen to traditional Irish and Celtic folk music, watch dance performances, and compete in St. Patrick’s Day trivia or the 50/50 raffle. Profits and donations will go to the Irish American Parade Fund! 

Attend the St. Patrick’s Bar Crawl from 8 pm-12:45 am. Party Passes are $20. Get yours quick! 

Sunday

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade hosted by the Irish American Club will kick off at the Fish Pier parking area at noon! Afterward, check out the Celebration at the Maine Irish Heritage Center for food, dancing, and music! See their Facebook page for the parade route!

Tuesday, St. Patrick’s Day!

Spend St. Patrick’s Day at $3 Deweys! Enjoy a free breakfast buffet from 6-10 am and listen to Kris Hype from 11 am-2 pm and Level 7 from 4-8 pm. 

Join the Maine Irish Heritage Center for the Irish Flag Raising over Portland. At 8:30 am walk from the MIHC, through the old Irish neighborhood, and watch the Irish flag be raised at Harbor View Park. From 9-10 am coffee, tea, and soda bread will be available at the MIHC. 

Head to The Yard for Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day with Toby McAllister! The party starts at 10 am and features live music, St. Paddy’s Day sandwiches and stew, indoor and outdoor games, a scavenger hunt, and special drinks! If you wear green you will receive 17% off your tab and if you come dressed as a leprechaun you’ll get a special prize! 

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the Children’s Museum and Theatre of Maine! The festivities begin at 10:30 am and include the opportunity to taste traditional Irish soda bread, live Irish music, and an opportunity to do a craft. This event is free with admission.  

The Fore Play Saint Paddy’s Day Bash starts at 11 am and promises special surprises to honor their 25 year anniversary. This is an all-day event!

Bull Feeney’s is hosting Jim Brady at 1 pm, Chatroom at 5 pm, and Zealous Bellus at 10 pm to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Head to this Irish pub and celebrate! 

The Gang Does Trivia – St Patty’s Edition at MAPS! The doors open at 2 pm and It’s Always Sunny in Philidelphia themed trivia begins at 7:30 pm. Plus, Bunker Brewing Co. will be taking over half the taps and pouring green colored Machine Pils. 

Attend the Project Graduation 2020 St. Patty’s Day Fundraiser at DiMillo’s On The Water from 5-8 pm. There will be a silent auction, cash bar, and appetizers.  

Josephine County will be at One Longfellow Square for St. Patrick’s Day from 8-11 pm. This band features the sounds of four traditional musicians dedicated to playing Folk, Bluegrass, and Irish music. Tickets are $18 in advance and $22 day of. This is an all-ages event.
