This week, we’re serving up a mouthwatering lineup of culinary delights and exciting announcements. Round-up includes the debut of a new food truck, Vintage Dogs, here to tantalizing your senses with specialty hot dogs inspired by regions across the U.S. Plus, we’re raising a glass to celebrate National Cocktail Day with a curated selection of the best libations in town. And that’s not all – we’re thrilled to share the long-awaited return of Lone Pine Brewing’s Beer Garden.
News Update
Anything from recent closings, openings, and headliners:
- Lone Pine Brewing Company recently announced that after a long hiatus their Anderson Street Beer Garden will be returning for Summer 2024. Currently under construction, the renovations will include a new bathroom and bar setup that will allow the team to accommodate far more craft beer fans for outside service in East Bayside. Hoping for May opening.
- Vintage Dogs, a new food truck, will debut at Argenta Brewing Co. on Friday, March 29th and Saturday, March 30th. Specialty hot dogs from different regions of the U.S., Vintage Dogs’ menu features a Chicago Dog, Maine Lobster Duo, Classic Maine Dog, as well as speciality sandwiches – Italian Beef, Shaved Steak, and Polish Sausage – sides and desserts.
- A release party for Handshake Digestif Bitters will be held on Friday, March 29th at Oxbow Blending & Bottling. A collage of Owner Shahin Khojastehzad’s memories of both homes – Khojastehzad is Iranian immigrant who grew up in Maine – Handshake Digestif Bitters marries 28 botanicals and spices from around the world and Maine.
“Persian saffron, tea, sumac, and limo ommani (black fermented limes) is the Silk Road in a drop. Maine hops, spruce tips and dark robust maple syrup bring the woods to your glass. Aromas of fresh citrus, a dance of tea and wood on the tongue. Can be drunk straight after a meal to help aid digestion or used in your favorite cocktail for a dash of zest. It’s a handshake of cultures and memories, proving that we are better together.”
- Onggi Ferments & Foods is celebrating 3 years. Starting Wednesday, March 27th, Onggi will be celebrating with a super sale and “some other super sweet specials.”

- National Cocktail Day was Sunday, March 24th. Here’s a look at some of the best cocktails available in Portland, Maine – list includes Papi, Sur Lie, Blyth & Burrows, Bramhall and Henry’s Public House.
- Salt Yard Cafe + Bar, located inside the Canopy Portland Waterfront is offering a special Easter Brunch, available all weekend.

- Monday night Paella Night will be returning to Anoche. Returns April 1st and will run May 6th and June 3rd additionally.

- Willard Scoops’ The ‘Scoops of Inspiration: The Invent-a-Flavor Challenge‘ is happening now. Benefitting The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine, this unique contest invites ice cream enthusiasts of all ages to blend their imagination and love for ice cream into a flavor that captures the creative, inclusive spirit of the CMTM community.The winning flavor will be featured at Willard Scoops throughout the summer of 2024, with $1 from each sale supporting the CMTM Community Fund that eliminates barriers families might face in engaging with CMTM. Submission deadline: April 15, 2024.
- Batson River Brewing & Distilling’s Annual ChopTails Cocktail Competition has been postponed to Monday, June 17th, 2024 at their Portland location.
